One thing I like about this picture is something you can’t see: we were complete strangers a half hour before I took this picture. As with most of my subjects, I saw him on the street, I liked his look and his incredibly long limbs, and I told him about my project. I asked, “Can I take your picture?” He said, Sure, I’d be delighted, and I said tentatively, “Um, what are you doing now?” Nothing, he said, so he agreed to come up to my place. I didn’t expect to do a nude; he wanted to after seeing others I had done–he liked them. So we made a picture–that was it, he was gone in an hour–but some kind of magic happens in these chance encounters. As he left, I thanked him for letting me take his picture–and for being fearless.
